Central Coast Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino

UPDATES AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Saturday, August 2, 2025:  Join us for our regular first Saturday meeting.   WIth all the great social time we had during our St James Day potluck, we have decided to meet at our regular time and place at St. Paul’s in Pismo, but then just head down to the beach for a longer (roughly ten-mile) walk down to the Oceano dunes and back.  This will be a good training opportunity for those participating in the St. Junipero Serra Walking Pilgrimage (see below) as well as those heading off to the Camino this fall.  Those interested in a shorter walk will have the opportunity to turn around sooner. :) Lunch will follow at Blast & Brew for those interested.  Hope you can join us!

Saturday - Sunday, August 9th - 10th, 2025:  Our friends the Woods are hosting the Fifth Annual Saint Junipero Serra Walking Pilgrimage the weekend of August 9th & 10th.  This two day walk starts at the Santa Barbara mission, overnights in Carpinteria, and then finishes at Mission Buenaventura on Sunday.  Please see their website for more details at: www.stserrapilgrimage.org

Saturday, August 16th, 2025:  We are glad to report that our Training Hike Leader Yvonne is back in action and planning to lead a hike along the Morro Bay Sand Spit starting at 9:00am on Saturday, August 16th. This is a gorgeous, nine-mile round-trip hike from the Sand Spit parking lot in Montana de Oro State Park all the way to the breakwater just south of Morro Rock. A reminder email will be sent out as this date gets closer.

Saturday, September 6th, 2025:  “Life Beyond Camino” retreat hosted by St. Patrick’s Church in Arroyo Grande. The retreat is from 12:00pm-5:00pm, followed by mass, dinner and a special “One-Woman Show” about Life on the Camino. (We have seen this show before and it is very entertaining!) More details to follow.

Welcome to the home page of Central Coast Pilgrims!

Our mission is to support pilgrims and pilgrimage for those living in the central coast area of California.  We are a volunteer organization that offers advice, encouragement, fellowship, and community to all who might be interested in pilgrimage, and the many people who have already made a pilgrimage.  We are passionate about the Camino de Santiago, pilgrimage, and walking. We love sharing our experiences with our local community and beyond.

We meet the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 800 Bello Street in Pismo Beach. We gather for fellowship, coffee and donuts until about 10:00 a.m., followed by a Camino-related presentation, start our walk around 10:30 a.m. for about an hour or so, enjoy lunch, and then walk back to St. Paul’s afterwards. Several past participants have told us that these walks "are almost like being back on the Camino", sharing steps, conversation, beautiful scenery and a meal with fellow pilgrims. Please also check our “Upcoming Events” section above for more details, as occasionally this schedule changes.
