Central Coast Pilgrims

Central Coast Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino

UPDATES AND UPCOMING EVENTS

Saturday, June 7th, 2025:  Join us for our regular first Saturday meeting.   We will be back at our regular meeting place and time:  9:30am starting with coffee & donuts in the church Hall at St Paul’s in Pismo.  A walk and lunch will follow.  Hope you can join us!

Thursday, June 11th, 2025:  All are welcome to attend the dedication of our very own CRUZ DE FERRO at 1:00pm at Mission San Miguel. The cross is a replica of the original Spanish Cruz de Ferro and fabricated by Tom Coleman from the Board of Directors of American Pilgrims. Bring a sack lunch if you would like to come early at noon to enjoy some time with your fellow pilgrims. After the dedication, there will be a short procession and the opportunity to participate in a stone-dropping ceremony, so bring a stone from home to be among the first stones left at this new cross. Bagpiper Paul Dunn will be on hand for what should be a very special event.

Saturday, June 21st , 2025:  Mark your calendars for our monthly training hike.  This month we will meet in Montana de Oro at 9:00am starting at the Point Buchon Trail, followed by Valencia Peak.  This is a two-part hike of about 11 miles and 1500 elevation with a break between. We really appreciate the planning and coordination by Yvonne to organize these hikes.  San Luis Obispo sure has some beautiful open space!

Welcome to the home page of Central Coast Pilgrims!

Our mission is to support pilgrims and pilgrimage for those living in the central coast area of California.  We are a volunteer organization that offers advice, encouragement, fellowship, and community to all who might be interested in pilgrimage, and the many people who have already made a pilgrimage.  We are passionate about the Camino de Santiago, pilgrimage, and walking. We love sharing our experiences with our local community and beyond.

We meet the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 800 Bello Street in Pismo Beach. We gather for fellowship, coffee and donuts until about 10:00 a.m., followed by a Camino-related presentation, start our walk around 10:30 a.m. for about an hour or so, enjoy lunch, and then walk back to St. Paul’s afterwards. Several past participants have told us that these walks "are almost like being back on the Camino", sharing steps, conversation, beautiful scenery and a meal with fellow pilgrims. Please also check our “Upcoming Events” section above for more details, as occasionally this schedule changes.
